British Parliment Hosts "TRANSGENDER SALUTE" and Jenner bash on Trump
Caitlyn Jenner has claimed that Donald Trump has set the transgender community in the U.S. "back 20 years" in an address to the British Parliament.
The I Am Cait star, a registered Republican, urged the UK "not to go down the same road" in her address in the House of Commons. The address was the featured speech at Channel 4's annual diversity lecture.
Jenner reportedly voted for Trump but subsequently revealed a case of buyer's remorse after branding his decision to end federal protections allowing transgender students to use bathrooms that correspond with their gender identity a "disaster."
Introduced by Channel 4 CEO Alex Mahon, Jenner also called London possibly the "most culturally diverse city in the world."
Jenner, who transitioned in 2015, discussed the first few years of her experience. "When I came out the first year was very good, everything was going along great and then all of a sudden I became this person of privilege. I didn't 'get it' when it came to the trans community, we have a very marginalized community and I didn't get it and I got so much of this for so long. I will never apologize for everything I've been able to do because I've worked very hard and I'm not going to apologize for working hard and being successful. But what that does is gives me a sense of privilege but it also gives me a platform."
