Eugene Delgaudio Condemns Scout leader accused of sex assault at Wisconsin camp
A Boy Scout leader from DuPage County has been charged with sexually assaulting a Scout at a Wisconsin camp earlier this month, according to Wisconsin law enforcement officials.
Marquette County sheriff's police identified the man as Jeffrey L. Borneman, 54, of the 22-W-000 block of Stratford Court in unincorporated DuPage County near Glen Ellyn.
He was charged with sexual assault of a child under 16 years of age and was released after posting a $5,000 cash bond Thursday, Marquette County District Attorney Chad Hendee said.
The assault is alleged to have taken place on July 5 at Camp Freeland Leslie, a Boy Scout facility near Oxford, about 25 miles from the Wisconsin Dells, Marquette County Sheriff Kim Gaffney said.
"I condemn adult homosexual pedophiles who prey on young men and the Boy Scouts in general, the bond is way too low," said Eugene Delgaudio, president of Public Advocate, "but the prospect of 40 years in prison may help keep some victims safe from future attacks by this alleged attacker."
