President Obama, Speaker Boehner, Sarah Palin Condemn Shooting

President Obama and top political figures of both parties Saturday condemned the shooting that gravely wounded Arizona Rep. Gabrielle Giffords and killed at least five others, calling it a tragic turn of events for the nation.
"Such a senseless and terrible act of violence has no place in a free society," Obama said a statement.

House Speaker John Boehner called it "a sad day for the country."

"An attack on one who serves is an attack on all who serve," the Ohio Republican said in a statement.

Former 2008 GOP VP nominee Sarah Palin posted on her Facebook page "My sincere condolences are offered to the family of Rep. Gabrielle Giffords and the other victims of today's tragic shooting in Arizona. On behalf of Todd and my family, we all pray for the victims and their families, and for peace and justice. "
