Delgaudio Statement on Marriage Vote
The following statement was issued by Public Advocate President Eugene Delgaudio upon the defeat of the Traditional Marriage Amendment in the Senate.
"We are extremely disappointed at the Senate's refusal to stand up for traditional marriage. What is worse is that a number of Senators, who consider themselves pro-family, didn't even bother to show up to vote. While they may think that they can have it both ways by ridding the fence, the thousands of Americans who are members of Public Advocate see things differently. They know that no Senator who didn't actually show up to support traditional marriage on the Senate floor should be considered pro-family.
"This Fall Public Advocate will embark on a Marriage Tour throughout America, and we will visit the States of all Senators, regardless of party, who voted against this amendment. We will make sure their constituents know that they are being represented by an anti-traditional marriage Senator. Likewise, we will make sure that citizens that are represented by the forty-eight Senators who supported the amendment know of the courage of their member."
