And the Kerry Goes To
Public Advocate is pleased to announce that the following U.S. Senators are the recipients of the organization's John F. Kerry award for their decision to vote for Justice Samuel Alito before voting against him.
Each of these Senators either voted to confirm Justice Alito to the 3rd Circuit Court of Appeals in 1990 or voted to invoke cloture on his nomination to serve as an associate justice on the Supreme Court only to turn around and vote against his confirmation.
"While we are happy that the nomination of Samuel Alito wasn't further delayed by Senator Kerry's ridiculous filibuster attempt, the fact that so many Senators voted against this highly qualified nominee show that their blatant partisanship knows no bounds," said Public Advocate President Eugene Delgaudio.
The recipients of the 'Kerrys" are:
Akaka (D-HI)
Baucus (D-MT)
