UPDATE KASH PATEL CONFIRMED 51-49 ATTORNEY GENERAL, NATION REJOICES

EXCLUSIVE TO PUBLIC ADVOCATE
PROF CLIFFORD THIES REPORTS:
UPDATE: Senator Turtle voted yes. Sue Collins and Lisa Murkowski defected. Patel confirmed 51 to 49
Previous post:
Vance in DC as Senate is set to vote on Patel
The
FBI
is
effectively
an
independent
branch
of
government.
Its
director,
once
confirmed,
serves
for
ten
years.
During
Trump's
first
administration,
Patel
served
in
various
staff
positions,
such
as
principal
deputy
director
of
national
intelligence.
He
is
viewed
as
a
Trump
loyalist
and
has
been
described
as
unqualified
by
various
Democrats.
Patel
was
recommended
by
the
Judiciary
Committee
on
a
straight-line
party
vote;
and,
cleared
a
cloture
vote
also
on
a
straight-line
party
vote.
I
expect
another
straight-line
party
vote
on
confirmation.
But,
in
case
there
are
some
Republican
defections,
I
notice
that
the
Vice
President
is
in
town
and
therefore
is
available
to
cast
a
tie-breaking
vote.
Looking
at
the
remaining
nominees
to
cabinet-level
positions
(below),
I
am
thinking
confirmation
of
Elise
Stefanik,
a
Congresswoman
from
New
York,
might
be
delayed
until
the
two
special
elections
to
fill
vacancies
in
the
Florida
Congressional
delegation
are
held
on
March
3rd.
Two
other
nominees
may
be
backed
up
by
the
number
of
nominees
going
through
the
Health,
Education
and
Labor
Committee.
And,
I
have
no
idea
what's
holding
up
the
confirmation
of
Jamison
Greer
as
the
administration's
Trade
Representative.
