Delgaudio Meets with Senators on Day of Defeat for Marriage
Washington, DC--Public Advocate President Eugene Delgaudio met with many U.S. Senators today urging them to vote for the Family Marriage Amendment, which lost a procedural vote this afternoon.
Delgaudio spoke with and thanked Senators Roberts (KS), Sessions (AL), Lott (MS), Allen (VA), Warner (VA), for their support of the amendment and urged others such as Hollings (SC), McCain (AZ), and Leahy (VT) to reconsider their anti-family position on the amendment. Click here for pictures.
"Although the vote on the amendment was a disapointment, Senators should know that this isn't the end, but rather the beginning of the American family's fight for this much needed amendment," said Delgaudio after the vote. "Hundreds of thousands of pro-family voters have signed petitons begging congress to pass this amendment to protect marriage, and these voters will be heard! The fact that only 48 Senators are willing to stand up for marriage is an embarrassment, and it is one that will not be tolerated."
Public Advocate will be posting the voting record for each Senator so that pro-family Americans can either thank or chastise their represenatives for their vote.
