Breaking: Kim Davis and the Little Sisters of the Poor at the state of the union.

Kim Davis and the Little Sisters of the Poor are at the state of the union.

Speaker Paul Ryan responded to calls for public support for the Little Sisters of the Poor and hosted the group to the state of the union address tonight. And Congressman Jim Jordan hosted Kim Davis.

The Washington Post reports:

Two members of the order of Catholic nuns waging a court battle against President Obama's signature health-care reform law will attend his final State of the Union address Tuesday as guests of House Speaker Paul D. Ryan (R-Wis).

The Catholic Reporter reports:

Speaker of the House Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) had invited representatives from the religious order -- whose four-year legal battle against the Affordable Healthcare Act's contraceptive mandate will be decided by the Supreme Court this summer -- to sit in the Speaker's Box for the speech. Sr. Loraine Marie Maguire is the congregation's mother provincial and Sr. Constance Veit is their communications director.

Kim Davis Arrives at the Capitol

Cameras and live news broadcasts announced the arrival of Kim Davis at the U.S. Capitol.

Talking Points Memo reports:

Kim Davis, the defiant Kentucky county clerk who refused to issue marriage licenses to same-sex couples, arrived Tuesday night for President Barack Obama's final State of the Union address decked out in red, white and blue.

Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH) belatedly realized Tuesday afternoon that his office had given tickets to the Family Research Council, which invited Davis to Obama's address.

Other reporters and broadcasts reported the Kim Davis arrival.

This a fantastic response to our public statements, letters, tweets, facebook posts and website messages to all the presidential candidates and key Congressional leadership.

Public Advocate sent 100s of emails and tweets to all the presidential campaigns to bring Kim Davis and the Little Sisters to "public events" and they are at the state of the union as a direct result of our efforts.

"Congratulations to all involved in this. Thank you Speaker Ryan. Thank you Congressman Jim Jordan.

This must continue. We must embrace and fight for the victims of the President's war on Christians and stand against President Obama's assault on moral beliefs, " said Public Advocate president Eugene Delgaudio.
