Sen. Tom Coburn
Public Advocate is pleased to announce that Senator Tom Coburn is November's Family Advocate of the Month. Sen. Coburn has been a strong and outspoken proponent for the American family during his first year in office, never yielding to the forces of political correctness or supporters of big government.
Most recently Coburn took on Senate President Pro Tem Ted Stevens, in trying to eliminate ridiculous pork-barrel spending by eliminating the $223 million earmarked for the Bridge to Nowhere in Alaska. While the Senate rejected the amendment after Stevens threw a temper-tantrum on the Senate floor and threatened to take his toys and go home by resigning from the Senate if the amendment was adopted, Coburn and fourteen others courageously voted against pork-barrel spending and for fiscal restraint.
Public Advocate salutes the following Senators for supporting the Coburn Amendment:
Allard (R-CO), Allen (R-VA), Bayh (D-IN), Burr (R-NC), Coburn (R-OK), Conrad (D-ND), DeMint (R-SC), DeWine (R-OH), Feingold (D-WI), Graham (R-SC), Kyl (R-AZ), Landrieu (D-LA), Sessions (R-AL), Sununu (R-NH), and Vitter (R-LA).
For his courage in fighting to cut wasteful government spending which results in an outrageous tax burden on American families, Public Advocate recognizes Senator Tom Coburn as Novembers Family Advocate of the Month.
