Rangel Says "Pain Is Pain" How about "Stealing Is Stealing" ?

Democratic Rep. Charles Rangel said Friday he looked forward to clearing his name next week at a meeting of the House ethics committee, which has indicated the 40-year congressional veteran will be charged with serious violations.

Regarding the seriousness and the political price, Rangel said "Pain is Pain".

More than any member of Congress in recent years, a series of allegations involving lots of money and numerous failures to disclose properties and ownership and benefits have accumulated for the former chairman of the House Ways and Means Committee.

For several years, we have heard the same allegations. Now "several persons with knowledge of the allegations, who are not authorized to discuss them publicly, say they are related to his use of congressional stationery to raise money for a university center bearing his name; his use of four rent-subsidized apartment units in violation of New York City law; and failure to report income as required on his annual financial disclosure forms." But we all heard about this months ago.

Nevertheless, Nancy Pelosi the speaker of the House says its been "the most ethical" Congress.
