Public Advocate President Eugene Delgaudio issued the following statement following the confirmation vote of Justice Alito.
"We commend the fifty-eight U.S. Senators who stood up against political correctness and the immense pressure from the radical left and voted for Judge Samuel Alito's successful confirmation to serve as the 110th Justice of the Supreme Court.
"This is a wonderful day for the American family as the Supreme Court has seen the arrival of a judicial originalist who will faithfully interpret the law, rather than force a political agenda down the throats of the American people.
"Public Advocate also thanks Justice Alito and his wife for braving the shameful Judiciary Committee hearings where extremist Senators like Chuck Schumer and Ted Kennedy tried harder than ever to "Bork" this honorable man. Luckily most Senators and the American people saw through their obscene tactics.
"I urge all Americans to see how their Senators voted and thank those who voted for Justice Alito and rebuke those that bowed into politics and opposed this excellent nominee.
"President Bush also deserves our heartfelt thanks for his principled nomination of Justice Alito.
"May God bless and protect Justice Samuel Alito and his family. We hope to see him on the Court for many years to come."
