Public Advocate Fights To Keep US Blood Supply Ban of "At Risk" Donors
Delgaudio's Comments followed by Comments of Supporters to prevent
"Black Friday Blood Ambush"
Eugene Delgaudio, President of Public Advocate filed a 9 page testimony opposing
any change in the current Food and Drug Administration guidelines for donating
Delgaudio contacted supporters prior to the deadline to prevent what he called a "Black Friday Ambush" and said in part to thousands of supporters the following:
......I need your help to stop one of President Obama's last efforts to cater to homosexual advocacy groups.
Obama's administration is attempting to end the 30-year ban on blood donations from homosexual donors.
But should FDA health guidelines be dictated by the radical agenda of the Homosexual Lobby?
In the 1980s, the AIDS epidemic resulted in 22,000 innocent Americans contracting HIV through contaminated blood transfusions.
Even after the CDC recognized the high rate of infection among homosexual men, the FDA instead chose to listen to the radical Homosexual Lobby and waited over three years before finally taking action.
In 1985, the Reagan Administration's FDA finally implemented a policy which banned blood donations by homosexual male donors.
That ban for homosexual men, coupled with the development of testing to screen donated blood, caused the number of new blood transfusion HIV infections to plummet almost to zero.
In fact, the risk of contracting HIV from a blood transfusion decreased from 1 in 2,500 to 1 in 1.47 million.
But last year, the Obama FDA again bowed to pressure from the radical Homosexual Lobby. In December of 2015, the FDA changed from banning all homosexual male donors to only homosexual men who have been sexually active in the past 12 months.
..........Now the very same homosexual groups that fought Reagan's life-saving ban in the 1980s are demanding the FDA lift all bans on homosexual male blood donors -- no matter their sexual proclivity.
Public Advocate (has submitted ) detailed comments ,,,,, with the FDA to combat this reckless and dangerous proposal by the radical Homosexual Lobby.
But government agencies count the number of comments received and therefore, we need your help.
Below you will find a draft set of comments that you can send to the FDA to let your voice be heard on this important issue. The deadline for comments (was) Friday, November 25, 2016.
